Dadonov suffered the injury during New Jersey’s Nov. 24 contest against the Detroit Red Wings. He finished the game and the team didn’t mention anything until two days later, when head coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters the Devils’ forward wouldn’t be available “for a period of time.”
Through five games in 2025-26, Dadonov has no points and is averaging 11:04 of ice time. He joined the Devils after signing a one-year, $1-million contract with the club July 1. He spent the previous season with the Dallas Stars, where he scored 20 goals and recorded 20 assists for 40 points.
Through 12 NHL seasons, the 36-year-old Russian winger has 163 goals and 198 assists for 361 points in 622 career regular-season games with the Devils, Stars, Montreal Canadiens, Vegas Golden Knights, Ottawa Senators and Florida Panthers.
His best offensive season came in 2018-19 with the Panthers, where he finished with 28 goals and 42 assists for 70 points, all career highs.
Dadonov has also played in 55 Stanley Cup Playoff games, where he’s recorded eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points.
A third-round pick for the Panthers in 2007, Dadonov bounced up and down between the NHL and AHL for several years before returning to Russia to play in the KHL between 2012-13 and 2016-17. However, after winning two Gagarin Cups with St. Petersburg SKA, he returned to North America.
As for Parent, the 24-year-old forward has six goals and six assists for a team-leading 12 points through 20 games this season. He’s spent four seasons with the Comets, scoring 41 goals and 58 assists for 99 points in 166 career regular-season games.
The Devils are 17-12-1 with 35 points through 30 games, sixth in the Metropolitan Division and ninth in the Eastern Conference.
