The NHL trade deadline is mere days away, and if Calgary Flames pivot Nazem Kadri is moved, some contending team is getting a major boost to its top six in the form of a Stanley Cup-winning center.

There’s no shortage of contenders who could benefit from slotting Kadri onto their second line, including the Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, Carolina Hurricanes and Colorado Avalanche, with whom he won the Cup in 2022.

Kadri has 41 points in 59 games with the Flames this season, maintaining solid production even in a brutal offensive environment. He’s consistently met the moment in the playoffs throughout his career, posting 44 points in 52 career postseason games.

While Calgary’s asking price for a center of Kadri’s pedigree won’t be cheap, it’s easy to see a bidding war breaking out as the clock ticks down on Friday afternoon.

On Tuesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, host Tyler Yaremchuk and co-host and former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton discussed where the best fit for Kadri is ahead of Friday’s trade deadline.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Who did you have as your fit for Nazem Kadri? Let’s keep the ball rolling here.

Carter Hutton: Nazem Kadri was a pick that for me, I think for him when I look at Nazem Kadri, he’s a guy that goes down to Dallas, right? I think Dallas potentially is a team where they add a piece like Kadri. And obviously if they can make the numbers work and where it’s at, I know they’re limited to what they can do. They have the Jason Robertson contract looming, you know, what does that become? What I do love about this is the fact that Dallas is always there. I feel like Jim Nill always has a little bit of something up his sleeve and he continually creates a good team. And I think for Nazem Kadri, if it’s not Dallas, then it’s Colorado because this guy wants to win. And I think he knows that the Central Division is where the Stanley Cup is coming through this year.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Yeah, I think I think the cop-out answer for Kadri is just to be like, he’s going somewhere in the Central Division… I just can’t see Minnesota having the assets to do another big, big trade like that. So I don’t know if I’m fully in on that.
