Will the Predators make any big changes this offseason?

Despite having a veteran-laden roster built to win now, the Nashville Predators were eliminated from playoff contention on Monday. The Predators have now missed the playoffs in three of the last four seasons, and are facing the prospect of significant changes this offseason.
Barry Trotz has already announced that he will be stepping down from the team’s general manager role, and head coach Andrew Brunette’s job stability felt tenuous at various points this season. The question becomes, will ownership in Nashville see this season as an outright failure that will precipitate major changes to the composition of the team, or will they opt for more minor tweaks this offseason in hopes of a quick turnaround next year?
On Tuesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, hosts Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton were joined by The Fourth Period‘s David Pagnotta to discuss the level of shakeup that’s in store for the Predators this offseason.
Tyler Yaremchuk: What do you think the appetite is in that Predators organization for maybe some bigger, sweeping changes this summer?
David Pagnotta: I think we saw this season, despite the roller coaster ride that it was, there are some good pieces on this club. With a little more runway, they could do a little bit more damage. With a little more support, they could do that much more damage. I think this team, with what they’ve got finally starting to work in partially the vision that Trotz had put together, whoever is going to come in is going to want to build off of that. This is going to be a team that without question is going to be poised to make the playoffs next season. That’s what they’re going to gun for. It’s clear that with all the talk in the first half of the season about blowing it up and moving this guy and moving that guy, maybe they look at a (Jonathan) Marchessault or something like that again in the offseason, but quite frankly adding to this group and adding to this nucleus is probably going to be the priority for whoever comes in, in order to take those next steps and not dig themselves a hole in the first half of the season that was clearly too deep to climb out of.
