Could Marc-Andre Fleury make a return to the NHL?

Eyebrows were raised earlier this week when TSN hockey insider Pierre LeBrun reported that teams have reached out to retired goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury to see if he’s interested in returning to the NHL.
“Probably not surprising but hearing that some teams have checked in on Marc-Andre Fleury to see if there’s any chance at all he would consider playing again,” LeBrun wrote in a social media post Monday. “Again not surprised teams with goalie needs would want to check on it.”

Tyler Yaremchuk: For today’s #AskDFO questions, we’ve heard some rumblings in the last 24 hours that one Marc-Andre Fleury’s ring is ringing and buzzing, despite the fact he does not have a contract. What do you make of the rumors that Fleury – at the age of 41 – could be interested in a comeback?
Carter Hutton: I don’t know … I think with the victory lap he had, his days are numbers. We should probably ask Fleury’s wife before him if he’s going anywhere.
He’d probably be in good enough shape, but that being said, I think his time is up.
Tyler Yaremchuk: I think I’m with you on that. It’s not like this is a guy who retired at his peak: he was sub-.900 save percentage in back-to-back seasons, he only started 22 games with the Minnesota Wild a year ago. I’m not totally sold on Marc-Andre Fleury being a potential answer for one of these teams who have true goaltending problems.
On the flip side, for a team looking for a backup, OK? But is Fleury coming out of retirement to play 10 games on the back-half of season? No, he’s coming back if he has a chance to win a starting job.
Is he going to be the starter over Tristan Jarry with the Edmonton Oilers? No. Is he going to the Anaheim Ducks to be a backup for Lukas Dostal? No. None of these really make a ton of sense for me.
Carter Hutton: I think something that I went through when I finished: I made peace with it when I hurt my ankle and my last year was going to be my last year, then you’re settled into life. Then to just rip that off and get back into it? I think he’s made peace with it and we won’t see him again.
