UPDATE! Luongo (ankle) will not dress Wednesday

January 15, 4:00 pm EST – Eddie Lack starts for the Canucks, Luongo will not dress as his backup. It also does not sound like Lu will be available on Thursday either.

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo was at his first full practice since suffering an ankle injury on January 4 versus the Los Angeles Kings.
Luongo has missed the last three games after “tweaking” his ankle in a collision with Dustin Brown last weekend. This is the second time this season that Luongo has missed time with a lower-body injury. The Canucks are 1-2-0 in their last three games sans Bobby Lu.
His return to practice is a positive sign for the Canucks. Luongo will travel with the team on their upcoming three-game road-trip which starts on Monday in Los Angeles.
“I’m going on the road trip, but I don’t know when I’ll be playing yet,” Luongo said. “There needs to be more progression. This was my first practice back,” he added.
Preferably the Canucks would like Luongo to be ready for one of their back-to-back games on Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday, they take on a red-hot Ducks team, a game I’m sure head coach John Tortorella would love to have his Olympian back for.
Monitor Luongo’s status throughout the week. I will be updating this article following Luongo’s status on a day-to-day basis. Eddie Lack will remain the Canucks go-to netminder while Luongo is sidelined.
