At this point in time, the only confirmed details about Cihar’s contract are the term and the cap hit, as the Kings did not mention if the deal comes with any performance bonuses.
Cihar was the Kings’ second-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft out of the Czech Extraliga, the top hockey league in Czechia. He currently has four goals and four assists for eight points in 27 games with HC Energie Karlovy Vary, although he’s expected to spend the rest of the season in the Western Hockey League with the Kelowna Rockets after the 2026 World Junior Championships in Minnesota.
Cihar will play for Czechia in the World Junior Championships for the second year in a row. He had just one goal and one assist in seven games in the 2025 tournament in Ottawa, as Czechia went on to win bronze with a 3-2 shootout win over Sweden.
Daily Faceoff prospect analyst Steven Ellis had this to say about Cihar when previewing Czechia’s 2026 World Junior team on Wednesday:
“A player receiving a lot of attention from the general public this year is winger Vojtěch Čihař. He’s one of Czechia’s fastest forwards, and he uses that to his advantage when chasing after pucks and forcing mistakes out of defenders. He has played decently well against men in the Czech league, but his WHL rights were recently acquired by the Kelowna Rockets (and it wasn’t a small return, either). Could we see him stick in North America once the tourney is over? Perhaps, but Czechia will be happy to use him on the top line in the meantime.”
Cihar is the first Kings’ 2025 draft pick to receive an entry-level contract, even getting one before first-round pick Henry Brzustewicz. He’s also the seventh 2025 second-round pick to sign an ELC, joining Milton Gastrin, Aleksei Medvedev, Ethan Czata, Ivan Ryabkin, Daniil Prokhorov and Peyton Kettles.
