D’Aigle’s contract will begin in the 2026-27 season and run through 2028-29. While it means he won’t compete in the NHL this season, he is still able to play in the AHL if he signs an AHL contract or an AHL professional tryout contract for the rest of the season. However, D’Aigle still has to complete his season with the Victoriaville Tigres in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League before turning professional.
Since D’Aigle’s contract is entry-level, it is both two-way and features no clauses. It does come with signing bonuses of $94,425, $95,000 and $95,575 in the three years, and sees the NHL salary fluctuate from $94,425, $995,000 and $1,045,575 in those years. However, his AHL salary will be consistent through all three years at a salary of $85,000.
D’Aigle was a third-round pick of the Penguins in the 2025 NHL Draft, selected 84th overall. While his 14-21-3 record wouldn’t indicate it, he has had his best season in the QMJHL with a .908 save percentage, playing in 39 games as the team’s starter.
The Tigres sit in seventh in the Western Conference of the QMJHL with a 23-35-5 record, and have clinched a playoff spot. The QMJHL regular season concludes on Saturday, with the playoffs beginning shortly after.
Daily Faceoff prospects analyst Steven Ellis had this to say about D’Aigle:
“D’Aigle is a big mobile goaltender who doesn’t give shooters a lot to work with. He has a good glove hand and is very good down low. He has all the characteristics you expect out of a bigger goaltender and it allows him to be extremely competitive.”
D’Aigle is the first entry-level contract the Penguins have signed for the 2026-27 season. They’re set to have almost $47 million in salary cap space this summer with 17 unrestricted free agents and seven restricted free agents, highlighted by Evgeni Malkin, Anthony Mantha, Stuart Skinner and Arturs Silovs.
