DraftKings Fantasy Hockey Cheat Sheet: May 25th

Hi folks, I’m sorry that this cheat sheet is super late and super condensed. Crazy times for me right now. Below you will find the players I think will step up in these pivotal Conference Final games and win you some cash.

Here’s a quick explanation on how to build your lineup an play! You have $50,000 in Salary space, to build a team that consists of 2C, 3W, 2D, 1G and 1 Util. Below you will find how skaters and goalies scoring works!

• Players will accumulate points as follows:

• Goal = +3 PTS
• Assist = +2 PTS
• Shot on Goal = +0.5 PTS
• Blocked Shot = +0.5 PTS
• Short Handed Point Bonus (Goal/Assist) = +1 PTS
• Shootout Goal = +0.2 PTS
• Hat Trick Bonus = +1.5 PTS

• Goalies only will accumulate points as follows:

• Win = +3 PTS
• Save = +0.2 PTS
• Goal Against = -1 PTS
• Shutout Bonus = +2 PTS

• Goalie Scoring Notes:

• Goalies WILL receive points for all stats they accrue, including goals and assists.
• The Goalie Shutout Bonus is credited to goalies if they complete the entire game with 0 goals allowed in regulation + overtime. Shootout goals will not prevent a shutout. Goalie must complete the entire game to get credit for a shutout.

Forwards

Joe Pavelski – vs. STL – $8,100

Pavelski is the most expensive winger and for good reason. He is tied with Logan Couture for the playoff lead in points (21) and has recorded a point in the first five games of this series. Against the Blues he has tallied three goals, five assists and 5.8 DraftKings points per game (FPPG).

Joe Thornton – vs. STL – $5,900

Thornton isn’t going to score many goals, but he is an assist machine, evidenced by his six assists in his last three games, which have racked up 4.83 FPPG. He has 11 points in eight home playoff games, so it’s hard to go wrong with the Joe and Joe stack.

Logan Couture – vs. STL – $6,300

As I mentioned, Couture is tied for the playoff lead in points, which is more impressive considering his tough regular season. He has yet to score a goal in this series, but does have four assists and 3.5 FPPG. Like Thornton, he is also over a point-per-game on home ice in the postseason and should help the Sharks into the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in franchise history.

Tyler Johnson – @ PIT – $5,100

As you can see, I am in favour of a Lightning-Sharks final and I like the Palat-Johnson-Drouin line for Tampa Bay. Only Drouin got on the scoresheet in Game 6, but they are by far the Lightning’s most dangerous weapons. Johnson has three goals and one assist in the series and sits tied for sixth in playoff scoring.

Jonathan Drouin – @ PIT – $4,900

I was mostly anti-Drouin in the postseason but as soon as I jumped onto the hype-train he has been a bit of a disappointment. Now that I am aboard the train I can’t jump off and I expect the under-priced winger to play a pivotal role in Game 7.

Ondrej Palat – @ PIT – $5,600

You won’t find Palat in the top-5 of team scoring, but he has been arguably their most consistent player in this series. He has six points (2G / 4A) in the series and has also picked up a  solid five points (2G / 3A) in seven road playoff games.

Defensemen

Brent Burns – vs. STL – $8,600

Why? Why not? He is third in the playoffs in scoring, he is a monster and he has been absolutely dominant all year-long. If you can eat that kind of salary, take him without thinking twice.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic – vs. STL – $5,100

As I’ve said for a few cheat sheets in a row now, Vlasic is a great secondary option to Burns. He his $3,500 cheaper and he just had one goal, one assist and 9.0 DraftKings points in Game 5. He blocks shots and has the ability to put up points, that’s not easy to come by.

Jason Garrison – @ PIT – $4,000

Garrison was a disappointment in Game 6, picking up just two shots and no blocked shots. He doesn’t block a tonne of shots, but he fires a fair bit on net and with a cannon like he’s got, he can put it home at any time. Well worth the gamble at $4,000.

Goalies

Martin Jones – vs. STL – $8,300

Jones has a 2.02 GAA and .919 SV% in this series and if the Sharks are going to close out the series tonight it will because of him. He has been sensational in the playoffs and is easily my top goalie pick.

Andrei Vasilevskiy – @ PIT – $7,900

Vasilevskiy is coming off of a tough night and has a 3.12 GAA but a .918 SV% in the series. He has stepped in well for Ben Bishop and in a toss-up Game 7, I like Vasilevskiy and the Lightning, by a hair.
