A premature exit for a solid depth player for the Dallas Stars.

In the middle of Game 5 of the team’s Central Division Semifinal against the Minnesota Wild, the Stars announced that forward Arttu Hyry would not return to the game due to a lower-body injury.

It’s not quite known what knocked Hyry out of the crucial game, but his last shift came around the eight-minute mark of the second period, according to Lia Assimakopoulos of the Dallas Morning News. He was credited with just 3:34 of ice time across six shifts before leaving the contest.

The 25-year-old didn’t play in the first game of the series, but head coach Glen Gulutzan inserted him into the lineup ahead of Game 2. Hyry has played rather well, centering the third line between Sam Steel and veteran Jamie Benn. While the rookie has yet to register a point, he has been a positive addition as the team has battled a very good Wild team. Heading into Tuesday night, he had a plus/minus of -2, while averaging 16:28 of ice time across his first three appearances in the series.

Hyry was called up to the Stars from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Texas Stars, coming out of the Olympic break, and has been with the big club ever since. In 20 games, he scored three goals and two assists for five points, scoring his first NHL goal on March 29 against the Philadelphia Flyers. His last tally came in Dallas’ final game of the regular season against the Toronto Maple Leafs over two weeks ago.

The Finnish center has appeared in 25 regular-season games in his short NHL career, posting six points and a +1 rating.
