Daily Fantasy Stacking: 01-30-18

The second half of the season gets kicked off with another huge slate tonight. Here are some line stacks across all price ranges to help you navigate this 12-game slate.
High-Priced
Jamie Benn ($7,200)-Tyler Seguin ($7,100)-Alexander Radulov ($6,700)
With the Stars playing host to the Kings tonight, you can expect Ken Hitchcock to do everything in his power to get his top line matched up against the depth of the Kings. Were this game to be played in Los Angeles, the Kopitar line would pose a serious threat to the production of Dallas 1. Luckily for DFS players, Hitchcock has a tendency to avoid best-on-best matchups and prefers to use his lethal first line to exploit the depths of his opponents. With the last change at his disposal tonight, expect this line to hop the boards every time Anze Kopitar heads to the bench for a breather.
The Stars’ top line has been one of the best in the league this season, posting a 60.61 GF% and a 60.31 HDCF% together at 5v5. The Kings don’t have forwards beyond their top line that can handle them at even strength, which should result in ample amounts of zone time and shot production for Dallas 1. Jonathan Quick will be forced to miss tonight’s game after opting to forgo All-Star Weekend in order to rest a nagging injury. So while the Stars’ potent powerplay will be challenged by the Kings’ penalty killers, they are at least afforded the luxury of facing Darcy Kuemper instead of Quick tonight.
Medium-Priced
Ivan Barbashev ($3,700)-Paul Stastny ($6,100)-Vladimir Tarasenko ($7,400)
The Blues play host to one of the more lopsided matchups tonight in the form of the Montreal Canadiens. The Habs sputtered into the All-Star break, losing five of their last seven games and giving up 3.71 goals per game over that stretch. Carey Price has been terrible of late, failing to post a SV% above .909 in his last six stars. Tonight, he and the Habs are tasked with shutting down what has been one of the most productive even strength lines in the league, and they simply don’t have the personnel to matchup on the road.
While the Pacioretty-Byron-Hudon line has performed admirably of late, having the last change should help St. Louis 1 avoid this matchup entirely, and instead it will be up to the second and third lines of Montreal to keep Tarasenko in check. This particular combination of St. Louis 1 has been incredibly productive in a small sample size, posting a 59.63 CF% at 5v5 and a 62.50 HDCF%. While he doesn’t show a whole lot of potential in his own game, at this price Barbashev adds a lot of value to this stack and should help you fight the ownership on Tarasenko. If you want to make it a full stack, Alex Pietrangelo ($6,600) is the premier choice, but Vince Dunn ($3,500) has seen some powerplay 1 time recently and makes for an intriguing value play.
Value Stack
Sebastian Aho ($5,800)-Jordan Staal ($5,000)-Elias Lindholm ($3,900)
Despite their struggles this season, the Hurricanes have been a solid possession team all year long, and they currently boast the best 5v5 CF% in the league. Tonight should be more of the same for the Hurricanes, as they face one of the league’s worst possession teams in the Ottawa Senators. Sebastian Aho returns to the lineup tonight after missing the last four games with a concussion. He’ll slot back in alongside Jordan Staal and Elias Lindholm tonight, where he’s found considerable success this season. Aho provides a much needed boost of speed and skill to a lineup that can seemingly do everything but score. Carolina 1 will likely matchup tonight against the Senators’ top line of Mike Hoffman-Matt Duchene-Bobby Ryan. The trio has struggled mightily at even strength this year, making tonight’s matchup against the Canes all the more daunting.
Carolina’s top line should see plenty of offensive zone time tonight, and with Craig Anderson and his lowly .901 SV% in goal for the Senators, there’s potential for a huge game here. All three of them are also expected to see powerplay 1 time tonight against Anderson and the league’s 29th best penalty kill. They should be in a position to rack up shots regardless, making them a relatively safe play given their values. If you want to make it a full stack, both Justin Faulk ($4,600) and Noah Hanifin ($3,400) make for strong plays.
