Avalanche sign Vinnie Hinostroza, Domenick Fensore to bolster depth

The Colorado Avalanche announced Wednesday they signed forward Vinnie Hinostroza to a two-year deal and defenseman Domenick Fensore to a one-year deal.

According to PuckPedia, Hinostroza’s contract is a two-way deal. In year one, he will make $850,000 at the NHL level, $500,000 in the minors with a guarantee of $600,000. In year two, he will make $900,000 in the NHL, $550,000 in the AHL and a guarantee of $600,000.

Hinostroza, 32, had six goals and 12 assists for 18 points in 65 games between the Minnesota Wild and Florida Panthers in 2025-26. Across parts of 12 NHL seasons, the Melrose Park, Ill., native has 65 goals and 114 assists for 179 points in 477 career regular-season games with the Wild, Panthers, Buffalo SabresChicago Blackhawks, Nashville Predators and Arizona Coyotes.

He’s also played in parts of seven AHL seasons, where he’s scored 62 goals and added 97 assists for 159 points in 188 career regular-season games.

As for Fensore, PuckPedia reported that the 24-year-old Fensore also signed a two-way deal and will make $850,000 in the NHL, $250,000 in the minors with a guarantee of $275,000.

Fensore had 10 goals and 25 assists for 35 points in 60 games with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves in 2025-26. In four seasons, the left-handed blueliner has 21 goals and 62 assists for 83 points in 166 regular-season AHL games.

He’s also appeared in three NHL games with the Carolina Hurricanes.

In four seasons playing college hockey with Boston University, Fensore had 19 goals and 67 assists for 86 points in 122 career NCAA games. He served as captain for his senior campaign.
