Avalanche sign Adam Beckman to two-year contract

A minor-league scorer is heading west.
On the opening day of NHL free agency, the Colorado Avalanche signed forward Adam Beckman to a two-year, two-way contract. The deal carries an NHL AAV of $875,000, a minor-league salary of $475,000 and a guaranteed salary of $500,000 through the 2027-28 season.
Beckman hasn’t seen much time in the NHL over his five full seasons of professional hockey, but he has proven to be an exceptional offensive weapon in the American Hockey League. Last season, with the Bridgeport Islanders, the New York Islanders’ primary affiliate, the Saskatoon native led the team scoring with 30 goals and 21 assists for 51 points, finishing tied for ninth in the league in goals. His efforts were enough to help the Isles finish fourth in the AHL’s Atlantic Division, though the team was knocked out in the best-of-three first round by the Hershey Bears.
It was the second season in a row where Beckman hit the 40-point mark, as he scored an even 40 points, splitting time with the Baby Isles and Utica Comets during the 2024-25 season. He was traded to the Islanders from the New Jersey Devils’ organization in exchange for Dennis Cholowski ahead of the trade deadline.
The last time Beckman was in the NHL came back during the 2023-24 season with the Minnesota Wild, when he registered two assists in 11 games. In 23 career games, he has registered three assists. He has posted at least 30 points in all five years of his AHL career, amassing 104 goals and 95 assists for 199 points, with another two points in four Calder Cup Playoff games.
