Hurricanes Jarvis, Slavin both week-to-week with upper-body injuries

The Carolina Hurricanes shared an update on Monday regarding two injured star players, Jaccob Slavin and Seth Jarvis. According to the team, both players will be out of the lineup on a week-to-week basis with upper-body injuries.

Jarvis was injured when Florida forward Evan Rodrigues struck his skate with his stick during the overtime period. Jarvis fell and slid into a high-speed collision with the Panthers’ net, with his upper-body striking the goal post.

The Winnipeg native is a hopeful to make Team Canada’s roster at the 2026 Winter Olympics after making Canada’s championship-winning squad at the 4 Nations Face-Off in February of 2025.
Jarvis, who has surpassed the 30-goal mark in each of the past two seasons, was off to the best goal-scoring pace of his career to start this season with 19 goals in 34 games played.
Head coach Rod Brind’Amour believes that Slavin suffered his injury when he was on the receiving end of a hit from Panthers forward A.J. Greer.
Like Jarvis, Slavin is hoping to represent his country at the Olympics, as he’s widely seen as a lock to make Team USA after a phenomenal defensive showing at 4 Nations.
The veteran shutdown defenseman had just returned to the Carolina lineup after a knee injury that shortened his training camp and has held him out of all but five games to this point in the year.
Even after suffering two defeats in Florida over the weekend, the Hurricanes still have a solid grip on first place in the Metropolitan Division. At 22-10-3, they lead Washington by four points and have a game in hand.
Carolina will get another shot at the Panthers in its next game on Tuesday night in another rematch of the 2025 Eastern Conference Final.
