According to The Athletic’s Julian McKenzie, Nicolas Deslauriers will likely fill in for the Hurricanes in Ehlers’ absence.

It’s not clear how the 30-year-old Ehlers suffered the injury. Through the first three games of the series, he has one assist.
Ehlers joined the Hurricanes after signing a six-year, $51-million contract with an annual average value of $8.5 million last July. In his first season, he scored 26 goals and recorded 45 assists for 71 points, reaching career highs in both assists and points.
Through 11 NHL campaigns, Ehlers has 251 goals and 340 assists for 591 points in 756 career games with Carolina and the Winnipeg Jets.
He’s also scored nine goals and recorded 13 assists for 22 points in 48 career Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Last season with the Jets, Ehlers became the first Danish player in NHL history to record 500 career regular-season points.
Taken No. 9 overall by Winnipeg in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Ehlers spent two seasons in the QMJHL with the Halifax Mooseheads, putting up back-to-back 100-point campaigns.
The Hurricanes go into Game 4 with a 3-0 series lead over the Senators. The Hurricanes won 2-0 in Game 1, 3-2 in double overtime in Game 2, followed by a 2-1 victory in Game 3. If Carolina wins Game 4, they will become the first team in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs to advance to the second round.
