Hurricanes’ Jaccob Slavin activated from IR, returns after missing 10 games

The Carolina Hurricanes activated defenseman Jaccob Slavin from injured reserve on Saturday after missing 10 games with an upper-body injury.

The 31-year-old Slavin has only played in five games in 2025-26, missing a total of 39 due to injury. In those five games, he’s averaging 17:24 of ice time.
He is expected to play Saturday night when the Hurricanes host the Seattle Kraken.
In 11 seasons with Carolina, Slavin, a native of Denver, Colo., has 55 goals and 244 assists for 299 points, averaging 22:25 of ice time in 750 career regular-season games.
He’s also recorded nine goals and 31 assists for 40 points in 86 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, averaging more than 24 minutes a game in the postseason.
A two-time winner of the Lady Bang Trophy (2021 and 2024), Slavin has the most takeaways of any defenseman (704) since the 2015-16 season.
Slavin, a fourth-round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, is Carolina’s all-time franchise leader among defenders in assists and points, as well as the leader in play games, goals, assists and points in the playoffs.
Internationally, Slavin has represented the U.S. multiple times, including the 2014 World Junior Championships, scoring one goal and one assist for two points in five games, as well as the 4 Nations Face-Off, where he was plus-three and averaged 23:16 of ice time.
The Hurricanes are 27-14-3 with 57 points through 44 games in 2025-26, which ranks first in the Metropolitan Division and Eastern Conference, and fourth in the league.
Forward Sebastian Aho leads the team in points with 43, and is tied with defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere for the most assists with 26. Forward Seth Jarvis leads the team in goals with 20.
