Nazem Kadri is headed back to Colorado.

The Avalanche have acquired center Nazem Kadri from the Calgary Flames, reuniting the two sides after Kadri helped the Avs win the 2022 Stanley Cup.

A 2027 fourth-round pick is also headed to Colorado, with forwards Max Curran and Victor Olofsson, as well as a 2028 first-round pick and a second-rounder in 2027 going to Calgary.

Kadri has been the subject of trade rumors throughout the 2025-26 season. The 35-year-old forward has 12 goals and 41 points in 60 games, putting him on track for 56 points over the full 82-game season. Kadri has surpassed the 50-point threshold seven times in his career, including in each of the past four campaigns. Kadri’s best output in Calgary was his 29-goal, 75-point campaign in 2023-24, his first season with the club. Kadri did not miss a single game with the Flames during his four-year tenure with the club.

Drafted seventh overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2009, Kadri spent the first 10 years of his career with the club before getting traded to Colorado in 2019-20. He’d have a breakout season in 2021-22, registering 89 points en route to a Stanley Cup championship. Kadri has never earned any personal awards during his career, but played in both the 2022 and 2023 NHL All-Star Games.

Kadri has amassed 751 points in 1,045 career regular-season games over his 17-year career, and another 19 goals and 44 points in 52 playoff games over seven attempts.

The London, Ontario native will make $7 million per season until becoming a UFA at the conclusion of the 2028-29 season.

Of note, the Montreal Canadiens were heavily rumored to be in on Kadri just a few hours before the deadline.
