Sabres record 100 points in a season for first time since 2009-10

The Buffalo Sabres became the first team in the Eastern Conference and the third in the NHL to reach the 100-point mark in the 2025-26 season with a 4-3 win over the New York Islanders on Tuesday night.
The Sabres took sole possession of first place in the Atlantic Division with the victory, which put them at 100 points for the first time since the 2009-10 season. With seven games left to play in 2025-26, the Sabres are on pace for 109 points, which would be the fifth-most in their history.
Jack Quinn, Tage Thompson, Peyton Krebs, and Bowen Byram scored for the Sabres in the victory at Buffalo’s KeyBank Center, which last hosted playoff games 15 years and two name changes ago. The Sabres, then of HSBC Arena, lost to the Philadelphia Flyers in seven games in the first round of the 2011 playoffs; Tyler Myers is the only remaining active NHL player from that Sabres team, which was also coached by Lindy Ruff.
The Carolina Hurricanes also won on Tuesday night to move back into a tie with the Sabres atop the East standings with 100 points. Buffalo, which has played in one more game than Carolina, is now 46-21-8 with a plus-42 goal differential this season.
Big things are happening in Buffalo ⚔️
The Sabres still have a ways to go to match their two most successful seasons in franchise history. The club amassed 113 points in the 1974-75 and 2006-07 seasons, winning two playoff rounds in both. This year’s team could surpass that record by winning all seven of their remaining games.
After a relatively nondescript start to the 2025-26 season that cost general manager Kevyn Adams his job, the Sabres have gone on an incredible run over the past few months. It all started with a 10-game winning streak in December, which coincided with Jarmo Kekalainen replacing Adams in the GM’s chair.
On Dec. 8, 2025, the Sabres lost 7-4 to the Calgary Flames and sat in last place in the East with an 11-14-4 record and 26 points in 29 games. They began their winning streak in Edmonton the next day and have gone an incredible 35-7-4 in the 46 games since, with their formidable forward depth and star-studded defensive group leading the charge.
After beating the Islanders on Tuesday, the Sabres are slated to head out on the road for their next two games. They’ll visit the Ottawa Senators on Thursday and the Washington Capitals on Saturday before returning home to Buffalo.
