The Colorado Avalanche and Nashville Predators swapped goaltenders on Saturday, with the Avalanche acquiring Scott Wedgewood in exchange for Justus Annunen and a 2025 sixth-round draft pick.

The 32-year-old Wedgewood appeared in five games with the Predators this season, posting a 1-2-1 record with an .878 save percentage (SV%) and 3.69 goals against average (GAA).

In 135 career NHL games between 2015 and 2024, the Brampton, Ont. native has a 49-50-23 record with a .905 SV% and 3.01 GAA with the Predators, Dallas Stars, Arizona Coyotes and New Jersey Devils.

Wedgewood was also a “Black Ace” for the Lightning when they won the Stanley Cup in 2019-20.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Annunen has a 6-4-0 record with a 3.23 GAA and .872 SV% in 11 games with the Avalanche this season. In 29 career NHL games, the Kempele, Finland, native has a 16-9-2 record with a 2.81 GAA and .902 SV%.

Annunen has spent the majority of his professional career with the AHL’s Colorado Eagles, going 60-29-19 with a .905 SV% and 2.76 GAA. Annunen was drafted by the Avalanche in the third round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.

The Avalanche are 13-11-0 with 26 points, fourth in the Central Division. Despite the slow start, they’re 7-3-0 in their last 10 games.

Meanwhile, the Predators are 7-12-5 with 19 points, seventh in the Central Division. Nashville started the season with five straight losses, as well as losing seven of their last nine games.
