Here’s a quick explanation on how to build your lineup an play! You have $50,000 in Salary space, to build a team that consists of 2C, 3W, 2D, 1G and 1 Util. Below you will find how skaters and goalies scoring works!
• Players will accumulate points as follows:
- Goal = +3 PTS
- Assist = +2 PTS
- Shot on Goal = +0.5 PTS
- Blocked Shot = +0.5 PTS
- Short Handed Point Bonus (Goal/Assist) = +1 PTS
- Shootout Goal = +0.2 PTS
- Hat Trick Bonus = +1.5 PTS
• Goalies only will accumulate points as follows:
- Win = +3 PTS
- Save = +0.2 PTS
- Goal Against = -1 PTS
- Shutout Bonus = +2 PTS
• Goalie Scoring Notes:
- Goalies WILL receive points for all stats they accrue, including goals and assists.
- The Goalie Shutout Bonus is credited to goalies if they complete the entire game with 0 goals allowed in regulation + overtime. Shootout goals will not prevent a shutout. Goalie must complete the entire game to get credit for a shutout.
Below I’ve listed my top DFS line stacks, defensemen and goalies as well as a few sample DraftKings lineup for tonight
Centres
Ryan Getzlaf – vs. CGY – $6,700
A lot of people were hoping for a second-half resurgence from Getzlaf and he has not let them down. He has one goal and five assists (six points) in his last five games, averaging 2.7 shots per game and 4.5 FPPG. He doesn’t have the greatest line mates, which makes him slightly risky but also makes their line cheap to stack. He has dominated the Flames this season, picking up one goal and six assists (4.8 FPPG) in four meetings.
Evgeny Kuznetsov – @ PHI – $6,500
The Capitals do not have an ideal matchup tonight, but it isn’t terrible. The Flyers do not have the best blueline and are susceptible to giving up goals. Kuznetsov has no points and a minus -5 rating in his last five games, so he was moved to Alex Ovechkin’s line in the morning skate. Ovechkin hasn’t been great recently either, so this is an attempt to spark both of them. Overall, Kuznetsov has had an outstanding season and he has picked up four assists and 4.2 Fantasy Points per Game (FPPG) in three games against the Flyers.
Mark Scheifele – vs. OTT – $6,200
Scheifele has been unreal since the trade deadline, picking up 10 goals and eight assists (18 points) in 15 games—over that span he has averaged 5.1 FPPG. He has proven he can be a No. 1 centre with Bryan Little out and he comes into tonight’s great matchup on a four-game point streak (2G / 4A). He has two quality wingers on his line as well—Blake Wheeler is a big body with the ability to score and Nikolaj Ehlers is a dynamic talent with loads of speed and fantastic hands.
Value Option:
Marcus Johansson – @ PHI – $4,000
Johansson is an interested value option tonight. Part of the Capitals line shaking involved Johansson moving to the top line with Ovechkin and Kuznetsov, but T.J Oshie is listed as a game-time decision, so there’s no telling if he will still be there come puck-drop. He has just four assists and 1.6 FPPG in 14 games this month, but playing with Ovechkin and Kuznetsov could provide him with a lot of opportunities to pick up points.
Wingers
Alex Ovechkin – @ PHI – $8,500
Ovechkin has been held off of the score sheet for three straight games and only has three goals and three assists in March. However, he is averaging 3.7 shots per game which has kept his FPPG at 3.2 despite the dip in goal scoring. The matchup in Philadelphia and the recently slow pace should keep Ovechkin’s owned percentage lower than it normally is.
Blake Wheeler – vs. OTT – $7,100
Wheeler has a five-game point streak going (2G / 4A) including a one goal, seven shot, 7.5 FP performance on Monday. Teamed up with Scheifele, Wheeler has two goals, nine assists and 3.7 FPPG in 15 games this month and the Senators are a great team to wrap March up against. Ottawa has lost three in a row while allowing a combined 11 goals (3.67 GA/PG). Wheeler is also near a point-per-game on home ice this season—37 points (8G / 29A) in 38 games at MTS Centre.
Corey Perry – vs. CGY – $6,500
Perry has been DraftKings gold in his last four games, registering two goals, two assists and 4.5 FPPG. He has been consistent all year long, which can’t be said for all of the Ducks roster. Much like Getzlaf, the 30-year-old has feasted on the Flames this season, picking up three goals, two assists and 5.3 FPPG in four meetings.
Value Options:
Jamie McGinn – vs. CGY – $4,400
McGinn’s had a good season, collecting 21 goals and 16 assists over 71 games, but he has been especially good since coming over from Buffalo at the Trade Deadline. McGinn has scored seven goals with three assists (10 points) and a 3.3 FPPG in 14 games with Anaheim. Skating on a line with Rickard Rakell and Perry as well as seeing ample power-play time will offer McGinn plenty of chances to score vs. the lowly Flames.
Nikolaj Ehlers – vs. OTT – $4,300
Ehlers missed some time with an eye injury, but has picked up one goal, six shots in his last two games. His is in a great spot on the Jets top line and when you watch him play, you want him on your DraftKings team. He is super fast with electric hands. Put him on the top line with Scheifele and Wheeler and magic could be made vs. the Senators.
Defensemen
Erik Karlsson – @ WPG – $8,300
As much as I’ve touted the Senators as a good matchup, the Jets are a matchup that can be taken advantage of as well. It is hard to pinpoint who will score up front, but you know what you’ll get out of Karlsson. He has three points (1G / 2A) in his last three games and has averaged 4.3 FPPG in 13 games this month.
John Carlson – @ PHI – $5,600
Carlson has had a nice return to the lineup after missing time with a lower-body injury. He scored the OT game-winner in his first game back and added and assist on Monday. He has averaged 4.0 FPPG in three games since returning and is the offensive catalyst on the Capitals blueline. In a shallow night, you should either spend up to get the best D-men or save and grab bottom feeders.
Cam Fowler – vs. CGY – $4,700
Fowler can do it all. Score, block shots and set his teammates up. He has three assists and 3.9 FPPG in his last four games and like many other Ducks has torched Calgary this season. In the first three meetings that he played in, the 24-year-old has five assists and 4.5 FPPG vs. the Flames.
Value Option: Shea Theodore – vs. CGY – $3,700
Theodore was great with the Ducks earlier in the season, but has failed to pick up a point in two games since being recalled. He is averaging over 20 minutes a game since coming back and is seeing time on the second power-play. If you need to save money, Theodore is a strong option.
Goalies
Braden Holtby – @ OTT – $8,600
Holtby has won five of his last six starts while posting a 1.71 GAA and .932 SV%. He has gone 2-0-1 with a 2.66 GAA and .908 SV% in three starts against the Flyers this season and with a lack of really safe options in goal, Holtby represents one of the best plays despite not having an ideal matchup.
John Gibson – vs. CGY – $7,900
Gibson is coming off of a strong game vs. the Oilers and has posted a .920 SV% in seven starts this month, but has gone just 3-3-1. The young netminder has also been outstanding in three starts against Calgary, winning all three contests with an impressive 1.06 GAA and .948 SV%. The Flames will also be without Johnny Gaudreau or Michael Frolik.
Value Option:
Michael Hutchinson – vs. OTT – $6,700
Nothing I’m about to say is going to inspire confidence in starting Hutchinson, other than the fact they’re on home ice, where the Senators struggle (14-20-3). He has a 2.95 GAA and .905 SV% on the season, but has posted a surprisingly acceptable 3.1 FPPG in his last five starts despite only winning one of those contests.
